Fubon Completes Trackman Collection with Taipei Physical Education University

The Fubon Guardians and Chinatrust Brothers Elephants are installing Trackman technology in their respective stadiums. The following is my translation.

This year, the Fubon Guardians and Chinatrust Brothers Elephants each will independently install the Lidar Tracking System officially used by Major League Baseball, in Xinzhuang and Taichung Intercontinental Stadiums, respectively. Among the two teams, Fubon will work directly with Taiwan Physical Education University, delegating the task of collecting data captured by Trackman to TPEU’s Assistant Professor Zhihao Huang. In order to develop the technology to its utmost potential, all sixty home games will be held at Xinzhuang.
Among the CPBL’s four teams, the Lamigo Monkeys were the first to install a similar system, and they won the championship in two of the three years since. While Chinatrust and Fubon are installing Trackman this year, the Uni Lions currently have no plans to install a similar system at their Tainan stadium, although the Lions plan on using Trackman data on pitching and hitting from the Red vs. White games on February 27 and 28, organized by TPEU, and analyzing it afterwards.
Today, Zhihao Huang was at the Fubon base watching practice, and chatting with other professors. He said: “Chinatrust is installing Trackman at Intercontinental Stadium, but they have their own man taking care of the data collection and analysis portion. In contrast, Fubon is doing the data collection and analysis through us after installing Trackman.”
This year, each of the following CPBL stadiums have installed motion-capture player information collection systems: Taoyuan, Xinzhuang, and Intercontinental, covering 171 of 240 regular-season games.
